Our Process

Sally Longden Interiors has a reputation for creating and realising beautiful interiors for a wide range of residential and commercial projects. Characterised by creativity and balanced by practicality, we provide a highly personal service with innovative design solutions in all the services we offer.

We are fortunate to work alongside a team of highly skilled carpenters and joiners. From the workshop we can manufacture bespoke  kitchens and furniture in a range of designs and styles. We will also install and manage the process from concept to completion. Alongside manufacturing we will oversee the whole design, implementing the finishes, lighting, furniture and accessories to complete the project.

Budget and design costs are often a primary consideration when redesigning your space. We will work to your budget and always strive to get the most out of what you want to spend. The level of service required with each project varies. Therefore we offer a flexible design service to meet each brief. Some clients may want a new kitchen or help with the design of one room, whilst others are looking for the design of a whole house through to completion.

Initially, I like to meet the clients and discuss the level of service required, I will then produce a design proposal that outlines the stages, how long I expect the project to take and the design fees involved. To give you an idea, the range of budgets for the residential projects showcased here range from £3,500 to £60,000, inclusive of design and build. The end-to-end process of designing your new space is outlined below.

Stage 1

Establish the Brief and Style Direction
  • Initial meeting is held to explore the scope of work and our client’s requirements.

Stage 2

Stage 2 – Create the concept
Create the Concept
  • Collation of images to create concept mood boards.
  • Floor plans to establish functionality and flow of the space.
  • Initial development of concept ideas with regards to wall finishes, flooring, lighting, furniture and materials to visualise the scheme.

Stage 3

Detailed Design
  • Development of the concept ideas into a complete scheme. Design detailing, sourcing and final specification so the client has what they need to start the project.
  • Floor plans are revised and in addition elevations are implemented. Site dimensions are checked and confirmed prior to drawing.
  • Physical finishes and samples are presented.
  •  Itemised listings of sourced items for furniture, lighting, wall and floor finishes, soft furnishings and ironmongery are provided.
  • Development and detailed designs of individual bespoke furniture items and collaboration with our affiliated joinery firm to provide quotations.
  • 3D rendered visual sketches can also be provided at this stage.
Stage 3 – Detailed Design

Stage 4

Stage 4 – Design implementation
Design Implementation
  • A comprehensive budget document is produced detailing everything to be procured on behalf of our client.
  • A schedule of works is produced with lead times and order status.
  • Purchasing and delivery of sourced items.
  • Regular site visits throughout the process to ensure a smooth efficient installation takes place.
  • Final styling and dressing at the end.
